A high school teacher found herself in a Nyeri court for allegedly sending an abusive text message to a businesswoman in the town.

Gladys Njogu , a teacher of English and Literature at Kagumo High School was accused of sending the abusive message to Lucy Kananu on January 23. The message reportedly read that: “Usiniletee umavi wako.” When asked why she had skipped court, she said: “My husband and my six-month old baby have been unwell. That is why I have not been able to attend court.”
The magistrate lifted the warrant of arrest but cautioned her against failing to attend court in future. She was released on a cash bail of Sh25,000.
